Commercial fire alarm systems must comply with BS5839-1:2025, which sets out how systems should be designed, installed, and maintained. Systems are classed as L (life protection), P (property protection), or M (manual). Most commercial sites require an L2 or L3 system, confirmed through a fire risk assessment.
