Your questions answered.

  • Public buildings such as offices, council facilities and libraries must meet the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Regular fire risk assessments, maintenance of alarms and emergency lighting, and documentation of all servicing activity are essential for compliance and occupant safety.

  • Under HSE ACoP L8 and HSG274, all public premises with water systems must control the risk of Legionella. This includes conducting Legionella risk assessments, temperature checks, and routine sampling to maintain safe water systems and meet statutory health and safety duties.

  • Electrical systems in public sector buildings should undergo Periodic Inspection and Testing (EICR) at least every five years, in line with BS 7671. Testing ensures the integrity of fixed wiring and compliance with health and safety legislation for public facilities.

  • Air quality monitoring supports compliance with the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and COSHH requirements. Routine inspections help identify airborne pollutants and ventilation issues, creating healthier environments for staff and visitors.
